Wednesday 23rd February  -  Bugs in the Wood

Chris Malumphy, the Senior Entomologist at the Food and Environment Research Agency at Sand Hutton, will be giving us an illustrated talk on the findings of his recent research into insects recorded in Dunnington and Hagg Wood. Do we know what we have living close by? . Meet at 8.00pm in the Reading Room. Admission is free to members, non-members £1.50, and refreshments 50p.

Tuesday 22nd March  -  A Spectacular Naturalistís Year

Local amateur naturalist and Warden of our local Hassacarr Pond Nature Reserve,Terry Weston, will be giving us another of his annual spectacular photographic extravaganzas in the Reading Room at  7.30pm, by kind invitation of the Dunnington Conservation Group.  This time his subject will be ďA Naturalistís Year 2010: Wildlife at Home, Bulgaria in the Spring and Canada in the FallĒ, so come early for a seat, and sit back and enjoy the ride. Admission is free to members and non-members.

Saturday 7th May -  A Walk in the Bluebell Wood

Following  the kind invitation of Stella Harper last year to visit her own extensive and fascinating wood at East Bank near Chop Gate amongst  the  spectacular scenery of this western section of the North York Moors, we are returning the invitation for her, and you, to join us in a walk round our own bluebell wood on this first Saturday in May. Meet near the childrenís play area in Intake Lane at 10.30am. We plan on going on to the Windmill pub later for lunch at 1pm, so join us then too if you can. It would be helpful if you could let David know on 488674 a few days before if you would like to come to the lunch, so that we can book you a place.

Wednesday 25th May  -  Fulford Community Orchard & AGM

 

Dr Colin Campbell, Chair of the Fulford Community Orchard conservation group, will be giving us an illustrated talk on the establishment and preservation of this interesting local orchard immediately after our AGM. Meet at 8pm in the Reading Room.  Admission is free to members, non-members £1.50, and refreshments 50p.

 

Sunday 5th June  -   Cycle Ride to Rawcliffe Meadows

 

Meet at 11am with your bike outside the childrenís play area in Intake Lane, Dunnington, for a cycle ride led by Olwyn to Rawcliffe Meadows. We will aim to reach The Dormouse inn at 12 noon for Sunday lunch, and if you prefer not to cycle, you are welcome to meet us there for lunch. Itís on the A19 between Clifton Green and Rawcliffe, south of the ring road.  Alternatively, you are welcome to meet us at The Dormouse  at 1.45pm before we go on to enjoy what we hope will be the display of wild flowers and other delights at Rawcliffe Meadows.  It would be helpful if you could David know on 488674 a few days before if you would like to come to the lunch, so that we can book you a place.

Woodland Working Parties  -  Conservation in Action

These will be held on the mornings of Saturdays 19 February, 12 March, 9 April, 21 May, 4 June and 2 July so do put these dates in your diary.  Meet at 10am at the Hagg Farm end of Intake Lane. Bring gloves if you can, and wear stout shoes or wellies
